10 ways to get YOUR garden growing

This extended cold weather drives me nuts with spring fever! I want the fresh greenery, smells of freshly turned soil and to be able to wiggle my toes in the soft first grass of the season.

Starting to prep for my summer vegetable garden makes me a little happier, knowing that it WILL be spring soon. Here's how to get your garden growing.

Tips to get your first garden growing

Gardening can be rewarding and therapeutic. But if you're new to it, the idea of starting your own vegetable garden can seem daunting. Don't worry, we've got you covered. Here are a few simple tips to help you get started.

1. Start Small

For your first garden, think small. A smaller garden is easier to manage and gives you the chance to learn as you go. You can always expand later as you gain confidence.

2. Pick the Right Spot

Most vegetables need at least 6 hours of sunlight each day. Choose a spot with plenty of sun and good soil. Remember to keep it close to a water source.

3. Choose Easy Vegetables

Start with easy-to-grow vegetables like tomatoes, lettuce, or radishes. They require less care and give quick results, which can be encouraging for beginners.

4. Prepare the Soil

Good soil equals a good harvest. Mix in compost or organic matter to improve your soil's health and productivity.

5. Water Wisely

Water your vegetables regularly, but don't overdo it. Too much water can be as harmful as too little. Aim for damp, not soggy, soil.

6. Keep Learning

Gardening is a constant learning process. Keep experimenting, learn from your mistakes, and don't be afraid to ask for advice!

Remember, the key to a successful vegetable garden is patience and perseverance.

Happy gardening!
